Back with MarsEdit 4

I just wanted to drop in here to point out that MarsEdit 4 works without hitch on my Blogger account even though I actually haven’t been posting anything to this one for many months! Of course the fact that I haven’t been on Blogger for many months is probably irrelevant to whether or not the latest versus if MarsEdit would continue to work. I’m just always suspicious of Google and it’s habit of doing things on the server side to cause consternation to folks who rely on certain services. And so who knows what could have happened to Blogger and it’s ability to connect to MarsEdit!

I'm hoping that BlogTouch Pro is going to be able to get me blogging once again using my iPhone. So far the program looks impressive and one of the reasons I decided to actually go ahead and make the purchase is because the developer has been regularly updating it. I obviously hope now that this pace of development will continue. 

Problems for MarsEdit

I’m curious about whether this entry works or not, since I am having problems at the moment communicating with my Blogger blogs using MarsEdit.  I’m just doing a test run now to see if I can make this work!

I'm able to write entries from within the Blogger platform and publish them, so at least my blog is still working as is Blogger!

I've just managed to insert this photo from one of my saved iPhone photos that are presently stored in Google Photos. 

I've just purchased Blog Touch Pro for Blogger so I'm now able to actually make edits to this entry on my iPhone and then post the updated content to the server. 

Far Too Long

I have been thinking that I surely need a good Google blogger blogging platform for general purpose posts of actual written content and not just a spot for the occasional postings of “pictures of the day”. Indeed I do realize that occasional and “pictures of the day” is something of a contradiction, but whatever!

Anyhow, while I was perhaps starting up such a blog I logged into my google blogger account and realized that in reality I had an old blog that fit the bill. It’s just that I haven’t had any entries in Making the Point since the end of 2011 and that’s over 3 years ago.

I originally suspected that part of the reason for the lack of entries on this site was because I’d thought the site had been either deleted or never entered in MarsEdit. It turns out that the only place this site entry is missing from is the version of that blogging software that is resident on my Macbook Pro. There is an entry for Making the Point on my iMac’s copy of MarsEdit. Clearly these days I’m spending more time working on my laptop!

Anyhow, I’m now up and running again (here in March 2015) on this general purpose blog and I’m composing this entry using Byword which I like with definite enthusiasm and which allows me to compose directly in markdown and post conveniently from editor to blog.

My View on Dynamic Views

I just discovered this relatively new feature of blogger, but at least at this point in time I don't think that I'm going to be using dynamic links. I've checked out the examples provided and none of them really rock my boat.

A Camera App for iPhone

Camera+ ...the ultimate photo app:  - Well, perhaps, but I do need to check it out myself!

And so I installed this application on my iPhone earlier and tested it out with a walk around the old Decatur Waterworks. Results of my afternoon stroll are up on flickr in this set.  I don't think I'm going to be replacing my DSLR anytime soon, but at least I have a way of taking pictures when all I have with me is my smartphone.

I'm typing a new entry into Blogger and I'm presuming that it's also now going to show up in Google+.
